Quality in Cornwall - Awards - Family Friendly

Any Quality in Cornwall inspected business wishing to participate will need to provide following facilities and services to their guests in order for the above logo to be displayed.

Services and Equipment

• Cots and highchairs meeting the current safety standards (CE mark).
• Suitable books and games for families with children various age groups.
• Outdoor play equipment, if an outdoor space is provided.
• Suitable beds, seating, crockery, cutlery, drinking cups etc.
• First aid kit to be available.
• Wi-Fi access available to all guests at all times. This service needs to be advertised, including any charges.
• Self-catering properties
• Plug-in nightlights to be available for bedrooms and landings.
• Serviced accommodation
• Plug-in nightlights to be available for bedrooms.
• Children’s food options at breakfast and any other meals served, to include healthy options.

Health & Safety

• Meet all statutory safety requirements for the sector of the industry.
• Carry out a health and safety audit focusing on the safety of children, covering the following areas (as a minimum):
  • Window blind cords
  • Window opening restrictors
  • Stair safety
  • Locks on bathroom doors, that open from the outside
  • Fireguards
  • Thermostats on showers
  • Pond and pool safety

• Contacts details for local GP.
• Location of nearest A&E and Minor Injuries department.
• Local family friendly restaurants, cafes, pubs and tourist attractions.
• Local walks, beaches etc.

Assessment for the “Family Friendly” award must be booked in conjunction with
an annual Quality in Cornwall inspection visit.

An annual fee of £15 will be charged
